Big City Street-Mouse Crossings-
"I was at an intersection, approaching a stop light It had changed from green to yellow then red Three autos in front of me I was facing north on 84th street Right off of Center As I'm stopped I canter peered my vision to the left of me And for the life of me Have I never seen It was a mouse crossing the medium, running, skipping, walking cross the street This little gray/white mouse- ~ Our eyes connected light still red I was wondering where's he going I've seen mice in a house, garage, cabinets, attics, farms, fields and shacks But never have I Have never I have never Seen a mouse cross the street at a four lane metro city street walk? big city street-MOUSE CROSSINGS- The light turned green, a micro-second he disappeared did he go back Did he jump the curb Did he run past my tire Or is in my wheel alive stuck, clinging for dear life what the heck Or is he smashed All I know we had I contact the next second he was gone? Let the people say hummm? THISS A TRUE STORY, YA?" 5/20/21 Written words by James Edward Lee Sr. ©2021
