Playing With My Shadow
Playing with my shadow, I was perhaps about seven. I had shiny pennies in my pocket,  I think about  eleven. I can still hear their sweet, glorious ring! I was going to the candy store to purchase those red, rope licorice things. Harold, the owner,  loved us with his wavy gray hair. He'd stand  behind the glass, while we chose our candies....delicacies, scrumptious and fair. He has a marble soda fountain, too. If we wanted fresh ice cream sundaes, too. The healing, summer breeze from sweet decades long since past. The  church-bells of Saint Mary's Cathedral that in my heart forever will last!   That calligraphy of days long ago. In life's timeless precious river, I cherish you so!                         5/16/2021                            ~4~
