The Visit
I’ve whizzed across the universe to talk to you today I nipped through a black hole and turned left at the Milky Way I stopped off at your sun to cook the food I love the most Half an hour at level six, Martian’s legs on toast When I hit your atmosphere your welcome was profound With all those pretty fireworks exploding all around How did you know my shield would stop an accidental hit If one struck my reacto-cell we’d all be in the blit I’ve learned your language fairly well, I think you call Blit ‘Poop’ I’ve seen it fairly often in a place that you call ‘Soup’ There’s so much Poop where I come from, I set off on this mission For on my planet, Blit is what they show on television From your blank expression, my trip I’ve poorly planned It seems these words I’m uttering you do not understand And so I think I’ll head back to the galaxy I’m from And as you like your fireworks I’ll leave this atom bomb In my world it glows so bright it makes the darkness light And charges solar spacecraft as we snuggle overnight You will not need to get too close when you decide to light it I’ve set it so that in an hour the timer will ignite it With fifty minutes now elapsed, I’ve watched you from afar Your panic and your rushing ’round give me big ha ha My race is fairly solemn, we don’t do this as a rule But this has been this year’s Intergalactic April fool
