Anxiety
Anxiety She is knocking at the door with great fervency. “You must let me in, I am a part of your life!” “I have been your partner” “you need me.” I recently kicked her out and said, “NO MORE!” I have no need of her. She no longer seems appealing! She woke me up so many nights in panic and doubt. She was the voice in my head that would never quit. She had no respect for time or place. Her nagging voice of worry and fear, would sometimes fill my days and nights. She was crowding and controlling. And oh, so loud… She overstayed her welcome She filled my head with lies. She reminded me that there is a pandemic! She told me that addiction kills, and would surely kill the ones I loved! As she overwhelmed with fear I grew weary of this perpetual noise. I realized she had outstayed her welcome For you see… I have chosen to replace her with a closer friend. His name is Jesus! He looks after me! He says, “Do not be afraid!”, “Do not fear!” “I hold you in my arms and nothing can happen, that I cannot help you through!” There is unbounding peace and joy and rest! It displaces all the doubt! He gives me sweet peace as I rest in His arms at night! The nagging voice is gone now, it no longer has its hold! I must not let her in, though she knocks and knocks at my door. It gets quieter and quieter and, off in the distance! Anxiety you have lost your hold over me! Your chains around my neck are broken! Freedom knows no bounds. Grace Daub April 13, 2013
