A Little Light To Shine
In the shallow mist of morning On a dim and dowdy street A child with a hunger Has a moldy bite to eat A dirty-double dumpster Is a desperate dive indeed For a sad and sorry youngster With an empty place to feed He doesn't mind that hunger Is an ever-present nag He only knows that dinner Is a meal in a bag Nobody sees the child flee To seek a hiding place The shadowland of pain and fear That hollows out a face You just may catch a glimpse of him Or see him watching you But still you keep on walking In the manner that you do The mom or dad who made him May have driven him away But do they care and wonder Where the child is today As twilight calls uncertainty Is creeping like the frost A desperate search for shelter falls On someone who is lost Our anguish will not feed him Nor the kindly word or line But someone who will need him With a little light to shine.
