And I witnessed the floods in Bangladesh, Indonesia, and East Timor, and the droughts in the United States, Somalia, and Morocco displaced thousands from their homes. The world is in crisis! According to the most recent United Nations estimates, the current population is 7.9 billion as of April 2021. We cannot sustain the life we enjoy today on a planet with shrinking, finite resources. We are living longer, demanding more, and destroying our ecosystems. We've ravaged and poisoned our oceans, burnt and cut down our forests, and squandered our fossil fuels; whatever future calamities await the human race, they will be devastating.
