Dreamcatcher
I come in different shapes and sizes. I'm a sacred charm woven over willow hoops and hung above your bed, freeing your body and mind from all sorts of evil influence. Go on, dream away, sleepy head. Close your eyes, child. Dream peacefully. You're in good hands. I protect you from nightmares. I originated from Native American cultures; used as a symbol of unity. The Ojibwe tribe call me 'Asabikeshiinh', meaning 'spider'. Acting like a spider's web, I trap your bad dreams allowing pleasant ones to sieve through my feathers and reach you. Go on, dream away, sleepy head Close your eyes, child. Dream peacefully. Your nightmares caught in my web are destroyed when the sunlight of dawn hits me. But there's more to me than meets the eye. My circular frame represents planet Earth and the circle of life as there is no alpha or omega. The beads represent the spider. In the center of the web, A circle, which is my heart, where good dreams filter through. Or a cross, which symbolizes the Four Sacred Directions. I'm also used for decorations and worn as jewelry.
