I've watched wind skip across a lake, last of day's sunset in its wake. watched dawn's deep amber light become blue skies, erasing night. I've heard the robin's throaty voice, the mocking bird, each song a choice. Listened to coyote's mournful song, a hoot owl signaling day is gone. watched night arrive in evening dress, and dusk greet dawn in day's success. I've watched nature in days gone past and thought those days would always last. We were ungracious as we built disrupting forests, vales, and hills. We stepped on nature's budding leaves; then wondered why there weren't more trees. We scorned thr songbirds' pleading call and filled the sky with an unknown pall. We dumped our trash into the sea, tossed plastic bottles relentlessly claimed nature's wonder as our due, but she has taught us a thing or two! We now know it's an exchange the heavens earlier arranged. If we want trees, flowers, and lakes, we must do everything it takes to keep our planet, once pristine, alive and healthy, fresh and green. So we can hear the robin's song, as others join in sing-along. And we can watch a raindrop show, while clouds roll back for a rainbow.
