So I Decided
So, I decided to create a "can do" list. Not like a "can do anything" list if you believe long and hard enough. Neither like a "honey do" list where you're the honey if you do everything just right. More like a "can do" something with what looks like a rest of a life. Like for a stretch and a catch for what's ahead. Like keep the sock drawer organized with evenly matched pairs. To match the day in front of you. Like keep one foot in front of the other for a step outside. Maybe in the best and the right direction. Like sit and read a page or two from a book. Maybe something like "letting life work out for everybody. Even if the "mess" and "miss" is clear to everyone near and dear. Like take a piece of blue sky for starters. Just sit there without any other "wonder why"? Except blue was the color Someone big enough decided to color it with. Like leave the phone alone. Let the calls go out to someone small enough to check their messages. Their voicemails. And it's a text, let's pray they aren't driving. Like be pretty happy for clean clothes and fresh air. That makes everything nice for a close of the day, an air out of everything you could not figure out. Like why everyone didn't stand to wait on tiptoes to hear if your life finally made some sense. For a real change. Like a change of address, some coins on the counter or a flat tire. Especially since the ride of your life wasn't going anywhere. So, a "can do" list looks pretty manageable even if everything else doesn't. It worth a little ink, some paper and a pen that works right. That has to be top on the list. Along with your life. A life that you "can do". Not only by the list itself but more for the last. A lasting life. Put that on top each day and you have it made. Maybe even without a list. It will last longer than anything and everything!
