Unlike the Ship Titantic
The sun is slowly going down and sinking out of sight The sky begins to darken as it turns from day to night With no full moon to light the way a spotlight way up high For this will be the longest night before the sun lights up the sky I climb into my bed to sleep ~ relaxing I feel calmer As listening to my radio to a good old fashioned drama And as I very gently start to drift towards the land of nod I dream I’m on a fishing boat in which I catch a cod The sea is getting turbulent with waves so high and wild But it’s only me inside the boat and I am just a child I hang on tightly to the side, the boat begins to flail How scary being tossed around ~ the wind becomes a gale I fear that I’m about to drown The boat feels like it’s going down The fish is still alive so I return him to the sea So he can see another day and breathe again like me When suddenly a celestial voice calls out from up above The voice comes straight from Heaven A Guardian Angel full of love Then slowly I begin to wake but still I’m in a panic I know the boat did not go down ~ unlike the ship Titanic I look upon the clock face and see to my dismay That just an hour has elapsed it’s not a brand new day So alas it is not morning ~ still night time here instead And no longer feeling sleepy as I rise up from my bed I go into the kitchen to make myself a drink And as I wander half asleep I then begin to think Unlike the ship Titanic my small boat it did not sink But even though this was a dream I won’t return to bed Drifting into peaceful slumber upon my couch instead Written 2017 Contest All Yours(Feb 18) Sponsor Brian Strand
