Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required "If I keep a green bough in my heart, the singing bird will come." - Chinese Proverb I saw a glimpse of orange in a tree today It was a Baltimore oriole, as he quickly flew away My feeders are full with suet, sweet nectar, and sunflower seeds To attract my feathered friends and fulfill their dietary needs I sip my hot coffee as I sit in my backyard, waiting for the show I am excited to see birds appear that I may not already know I can hear all their musical singing and some new chirping sounds I hope to see a rare bird today, as I see movement on the ground I see a spring red robin jump and chirp along the fence gate Then fly to the ground foraging, while singing in a cheery state A bright blue-Jay lands as the songbirds quickly scatter away Puffing his blue plumage, chirping, calling out to his mate today I go inside to refill my mug since there are no new birds in sight As I look out and see an albino hummingbird in feathers all white Feeding, sipping on nectar with opalescent wings rapidly flapping A rare sighting, I almost missed, I can’t believe this is happening I walk out to my backyard and no longer see the rare hummingbird As I sit, I hear a sweet, unusual chirping, not sure what I just heard I look up and spot the rare white hummingbird perched in an oak tree I am elated to see it again, hoping it will come back down and visit me 2/15/2021 ( Edited on 2/16/21) Contest: Spring Birds Poetry Contest Sponsor: Constance La France
