I stare into the mirror, drifting through the glass behind Alice, but I cannot see her dreams. She declares the rabbit went left, yet I saw a child go right. The Cheshire Cat slips away while I see dogs running towards us. The tea tastes like a cup of cold coffee, bitter, old. Slowly I realize these are not my dreams, but a mixture of past experiences with present life. It scares me that there were no dreams, no future sights. Am I so caught up in the past that I have no hopes for the future? I follow Alice out, back into my bedroom. Maybe I didn’t stay long enough to realize my dreams were there, maybe I just didn’t see it since Alice was there. Soon I will return, alone.
