I Made a Mini Me
We want them to grow up to be, The best that they can be. We want the very best for them. We want them to succeed. We talk, we teach, we prophecy, Till we can talk no more. We want them to be well prepared, When they walk out the door. We teach them it's important, To be neat and clean and prompt. Then make excuses when we're late, Because the clock just stopped. We teach them to be kind, polite, Help others when we can. Be careful who you're seen with. How to dress and sit and stand. We talk about the folks at work, The folks at church and neighbors, Pointing out their virtues, faults, With tongues as sharp as sabers. Then we say we meant no harm. We say it's all in fun, But little pitchers have big ears, The harm's already done. They make excuses for themselves, But they're hard on others, That fail to measure up with them, Or those they see as brothers. Oh No! we say, What have I done! This wasn't meant to be! They didn't learn from my mistakes! I've made a Mini Me!
