Carry Me Away
My thoughts carry me away While I sit at the kitchen table Sipping my cup of tea. I look out the bay Window and see a blue jay has built a stable Small nest upon a fork branch of the maple. I had gotten a phone call from Arizona, A very excited granddaughter on Christmas day. She called not only to wish me Merry Christmas, But to also say she was pregnant. They Had waited for eight years to have a child When they were finical able. She brightened my gray day. Make way For my first great-grandchild. I'm thinking, will I fly up to see the little gem? Will they come down to visit; I sure would love to see them? Am I getting too old to get on the floor, cuddle, And hold a newborn? My head is so muddle. I wonder if there's any baby blue jays in the nest? 12/31/2020
