What a Party What a Night
We're all gathered in goodbye to last year And to ring the new year in with good cheer Plenty of wine, beer and goodies to eat It's going to be a glorious meet. Well that's what I thought till all hell let loose Auntie Ruth for a start, swallowed a tooth She said it's been wobbly for quite a while Now you see's a big gap each time she smiles. Uncle Jack, quite a lad, fell on his back Must have been all the beers downed that he'd had He tried them all, that being his downfall Poor soul he can now hardly walk at all. Cousin Mabel sat glued to the table Eating as much party food as able As for the sherry, it made her merry Merry's not in her vocabulary. If fact the air it turned electric blue She stirred up a fiery hullabaloo Seems her old man is gettin' what he's due For all the rascal ever put her through. There's Gran Fran who's now the head of our clan Enjoying herself, as only she can So busy and dizzy she'll never rust Boy, can she dance with a foxy hip thrust. Bro Joe got us doing Okey Cokey Which ended up like the Okey Chockey The golden oldies were gasping for breath After swinging arms and kicking up legs. Then bro Tomo led us in the Conga As dad tried playing the harmonica Mom in fits of laughter, splitting her sides Laughed till she ended up on her backside. What a party, what a sight, what a night Now I see them all in different light What fun they are, made from purest delight Each one enjoying the sweet taste of life. Came the time for us to sing Auld Lang Syne We all joined hands as the midnight bells chimed Singing out loud those wonderful lyrics Bringing the New Year in with good spirit. 29th November 2020
