In Rhymes Sublime
In rhymes sublime I dream that I’m in summer time, recalling green and the lake pristine where we would go. To find the lake, a trail we’d take and then we’d climb! With no worry, in no hurry – we took it slow. Chipmunks we’d see; we’d laugh with glee as they would flee. How they would scurry – cute and furry – from our sight. Wildflowers too were plucked by you – to give to me. A queen was I and you - my guy - a shining knight! Just us, the trees and feeling ease in summer’s breeze! One sweet July with clear blue sky I think of still. Oh, what you’d planned! Ring on my hand. You asked me please to be your wife for all our life. I said, “I WILL!” Wind was blowing; I was glowing with the knowing that we two would say “I do” at summer’s end. Our lake we found (no one around!) With joy showing, you gave a grin; I jumped in with my true-love friend! Nov. 11, 2020 for Joseph May's In Rhymes Sublime Poetry Contest
