Don't all kids cry when they fall down And walk around with a sad little frown? Don't all kids get hurt now and then Whether in the schoolyard or playpen? What if someone breaks my toys Shouldn't I make some sort of noise? What if I'm lost and can't find my way Should I just blink my tears away? I'm just a kid, just a little boy I don't know much outside food and toys I don't know how to know if I'm okay Or if it's serious or just play All I know is that I get scared, sometimes When all the lights are off at bedtime And that I'm not sure what to feel About monsters that sometimes feel so real Maybe I don't see the world the way you do But I get upset and afraid, too. And why are girls allowed to cry, But my feelings, I should deny? Aren't kids meant to show that they're pure By sometimes being afraid and unsure? Aren't kids supposed to have strong feelings Good or bad, but never nothing? Don't kids fail sometimes, too, even when they try And aren't kids supposed to never lie? So if I'm a boy who just shouldn't cry, Can someone please give me a reason why?
