A Song of Hope
The train was around the bend Who am I to even pretend The shattered glass lay on the floor I took another and poured some more You walked in through the front door A gift from a friend, you were two months then You climbed into my lap and drifted off My heart was yours, hope rekindled once more Hope is like a piece of glass, that has caught the sun And reflects off it’s surface, when the darkness has passed. My constant companion you looked out for me And would wait even when I was late You would wag your tail and be my mate And led me slowly into recovery Two years have passed now you helped me heal Licking all my pain away and mending my heart As of now I know hope is never the slamming of a door It’s sunlight caught in your eyes reflecting like glass. Hope is like a piece of glass, that has caught the sun And reflects off it’s surface, when the darkness has passed.
