Lets Call My Shoes Dorothy
My shoes have been all around today Let me call them Dorothy since I live in Kansas. Dorothy has been sitting on the porch While I wrote poetry Just inches from where the raccoon mafia Left the dead cat last night Dorothy has walked the yard As I fed the birds, which really means the squirrels As their wily ways sneak most of the birdseed out Before the cardinals and blue jay can get them. Dorothy has been in and out of the art studio with me. We have walked on glitter, paints, and sloppy brushes. Dorothy has been in the car, Where a multitude of germs have been deposited. She is not afraid, for she knows nothing of pandemics or viruses. Dorothy has been in and out of my bathroom, the kitchen, The bedroom. She has been kicked into dark corners. Dorothy has had her regular prissy-free day.
