Reflections of a Color Guard
Waving a patriotic pennant is such the image Peaceful as a dove in war dirty as a pigeon If Old Glory touches the ground Excommunicate the handler from the town Stars stripes power prepared for a military fight Worldwide respect was granted, Right? Playing a hymn When killing people saying this is not a sin Red, white and blue Within a hundred years there was a borderline feud Over styles in life Whistled the battered fife Military parade Since we won the raid It was a successful decision to invade On the other table’s side Wondering if this was all a lie A horse no longer had a soldier to ride From a bugle TAPS was heard Over a chirping bird Possibly an angry person laid to rest Having the pompous attitude, being the best A triangle folded honor Family mourns feeling calmer When we have a divided debate Elementary defined as hate We should strengthen the idea, get things straight South had a different symbol Flying in their window Stating a different view “Northerners what do you want us to do?” After the Union stated the new norm Confederate was forced to conform Both flags tattered and torn In the states who were united in scorn Today after the American Anthem song Corporate advertisements will speed along Painted race cars doing things that on the open road is wrong Take a second to reflect on the act from a rebel Eating their stew from a campground kettle Understand fully the history lesson Someone could end up confession To all this messing Think twice before doing any metaling Since peace will come after all the dust is finished settling
