A Black Man's Prayer
Father lend me your ear Am tired of breathing toxic air Lies and fear is all I live and hear Day and night I pray for some fresh air Peace in the Ghetto is limited and rare Lord hear my prayer I don't know if you are aware But these wicked men out here There are cruel and unfair I have to share These men their don't care They devise ways to instill harm and fear How much more shall my brother's and I bare While our fathers and mothers Live in great despair That's not right or fair Lord why do these men try to destroy and compare Why can't their spare and repair Lord ain't fair How these men instill harm and fear Why won't they declare That racism is wrong and unfair Lord hear my prayer These scars I wear makes my heart tear How I hate when their point and stare Lord it aren't fair How these wicked men Have my brother's and I scared I swear that I will write and make things right My life will be BRIGHT I will live another day to rhyme and write Until things are made Right BEWARE God will hear and answer This black man's prayer Things will be made Right and Fair.
