Redemption Voices
REDEMPTION VOICES Africa is watching. African-Americans, your suffering is our suffering (I once suffered racial slurs even in my own country), your pain our pain, your shackles our shackles, your death our death, sprout from the chokehold like a lilac sprig protruding from fair cockspur thorns: your survival our survival, your tears our tears, your grief our grief (God grief also), your voice our voice; (which is the voice of god). Silence might have been our speech for a long time but like a stranger's voice echoing through lonely valleys we unlock our keys to cipher together we stand for justice, divided we fall & rise to victory cos you are the branches and stem of our ancestors. Now that Floyd's voice is locked just like Aspen's bells conform, our rapid drums will inform through banners of justice, PhDs, degrees and parchments, through our voices and pen; not our voodoo, spears and guns but voices AGAIN and prayers. At the bank of the ocean after turbulence, is where the shells gather. Faces of this season grin with clobbering wantonness. Africa's drenched by the blood of her offsprings and so she awakens all her sleeping seeds. Voice for justice with your voice until your redemption comes. VickWizzy. Vick Manuel Poetry {VMP}.
