Mitigation Vs Eradication
Politicians can’t decide and seem confused, while talking every day about the curve, and how it must be flatter for each city, so every hospital can better serve. They stand before the cameras every morning, using words supporting mitigation, assuming all will catch the Covid virus as it infects our fragile population. But then they change the subject and direction, replacing curves within their presentation, with antibody tests and contact tracing designed for goals of full eradication. There is no clear-cut plan they say to follow, just confusion from each daily briefing. Back and forth from one plan to the other, while every one’s frustration is increasing. Eradication cannot be successful in a complex modern free society, and any plans accordingly are fruitless, will not eliminate this malady. Most people can’t afford to not be working, so now they’re slowly opening each business, while talking still about eradication, as if more tracing will defeat this sickness. Their unannounced shift to eradication betrays their trust and is impossible. Although designed to meet their expectations, It’s proving to be unsustainable.
