I apologize that I am unable to provide the links to the poems, as I am using my phone to post this and I do not have access to a computer or laptop, so I am limited as far as my options. To remedy this, I will list them in order from oldest to newest- 1. Graduation - my very first poem posted on the Soup. I originally wrote this for my sister when her daughter (my niece) graduated from high school (over twenty years ago!) 2. The Stars - This was my first brand new poem of length, and the first one I entered in a contest. It was painful to write because it is about the night my brother-in-law passed away. 3. To My Teenage Self - I wish I could go back in time and give this to the awkward adolescent I was, just so she could know there is nothing wrong with her, and she is beautiful. 4. Who I Would Bring Back - my mother is ill and in a nursing home now, and this is my wish to return her to health and vigor 5. For the Silence Keepers - I am quiet by nature, and this is for those quiet ones who are usually overlooked and undervalued in place of their more loquacious cousins. 6. Little Things - Often, it is the little gestures of love that carry you through hard times; I wrote this when my husband got his cancer diagnosis. 7. Cities of Sonnets - this chronicles my journey back to writing after a two-plus decade lapse, and how much this site has helped me along the way 8. Morris the Thesaurus Tortoise - I love whimsical writes, so this is my ode to the joy of words! Also was a POTD! 9. Emptiness - All my life I have struggled with depression, and this is my attempt to describe that dark world of mine. 10. Covetous - Envy is another demon I fight, with wishing my writing could be higher, cleaner, better, more like so many I admire - is it ironic I'm proud of this one? 5/13/20 For '10 Poems that Define Me' contest Sponsor: Line Gauthier Shared 1st Place
