Bereavement Visit- Praying With My Mask On
Science Fiction and "Church" may have met tonight in Ft. Beaufort, South Africa. Mr. and Mrs. Steele lived in a frail care facility. She survives but Frikkie Steele passed away at 4: 15 pm (16h15, military time). I went to comfort her, Bible in hand, about 7 pm this evening. My text was John 14, the first 6 verses. It was a joy to be with Mrs. Steele but not preaching with a mask covering my face! Mrs. Steele has a strong faith, having also graduated a son who had been just 7, when he died of cancer. She is happy because father and son are reunited these past few hours! We concluded with the famous verse John 3:16 and I shared my testimony of having rejected Jesus for more than 2 decades, before being grateful for His love and Sacrifice. I had never imagined, going to share words of comfort at church or at a bereavement, with a mask. In a lighthearted twist, I might suggest, I was disguised as a non-atheist!
