Motherly Musings
I always wanted to be a mother ‘It’s painful’, ‘You will suffer!’, Yet I always wanted, to be a mother. A mother I became, Not once but twice A son and a daughter Life was nice. Until they grew up, in the literal sense, Their attitude developed, grim and intense. Respect for me, Was ego to them, Things out of control, I was overwhelmed. To pull things back, I was adamant. I stirred the dream That lay dormant. I always wanted To be a mother For she is special Like no other. A person who loves you Not for your face Who keeps in her heart Forever a place. For you to snuggle When the seas are rough, Often for her though, It may be tough. Today as I smile At my precious gems, I realise proudly I am that person for them. No matter how painful Or how much I suffer I’ll always be, Their special mother.
