He joined the Duke of Wellington's platoon And rose to rank of Captain pretty soon. In Burma he opposed the Japanese, And when his duties finished overseas, Returning home to Blighty, there are tales Of motorcycling sprees across the Dales. Throughout the years he'd somehow found the knack Of reaching out and trying to give back. Which prompted the idea of raising cash By giving daily sponsored walks a bash, Donating funds towards the NHS And thereby his deep gratitude express. Despite these trying times he brings us cheer Encouraging us all to persevere. We heard him with determination say 'The sun will shine and clouds will go away'.
