Trixie My Persistant Muse
Trixie shakes me awake impatiently following me to the bathroom Yelling ideas as hard and as fast as she can. I know better than to ignore her; for she will pull my hair I sometimes hear her teeth gnashing in my left ear She is the most impatient muse I have ever met She has two assistants, but refuses to give me their names Perhaps she thinks I will promote them and oust her? Trixie has been with me since the early seventies I put her to rest for a long sleep – around forty years While I pranced around doing lots of things that did not include a muse About three years ago she came dancing up from her luxurious nap. She threw words at me so fast, I had to use a giant platter to catch them. Dragons and faeries began prancing around in my dreams. Perpetual list of rhyming words were lying around in notebooks I figured they were Trixie’s handiwork as I did not recognize Anything except my own handwriting. She is bossy, and aggressive. Ruthless when she gets an idea. Luckily she has an insanely funny sense of humor Which makes her palatable She is irritating at three a.m. when she wakes me from REM sleep And all I hear is the last line of an epic poem Which is gone after I use the bathroom.
