He was not scared, nor did he fly, as I opened up the glass, He watched me closely as he sat upon the fresh mowed grass. I stood awhile, then ventured forth hoping he would stay. But reaching him I realized, I wished he'd fly away. I am not mean, nor am I cruel, it's simply sad but true. That most would shoot, mame or hurt, to protect him there are few.
