Presidential Onions
Two men stood in my youth Upon a pedestal which all beheld Both placed on the reality behind the screen I put my hand to it and cried You were my only friends Mr. Obama, you spoke about change. All I wanted was change from my dreary life, And then the other came. Oh Shrek so glorious in your rotundity, With you around I felt safe Your smiling mouth, ears, and eyes Gave me the comfort I needed to feel. And there from my surprise I heard him Mr. Obama say, “We will give it one more try.” I thought he spoke of his second election But he spoke of something I could not believe He pointed to that strange onion And Shrek smiled him and looked him in the eye “Believe me!” He cried, “Your always welcome in MY SWAMP.” And so he left the swamp of Washington to another, And chose to live with his significant other “No more Fiona, my first gentleman.” And so they winked and kicked Donkey outside. And so I stood and waited as the green pair came upgraded “We will defend you young person” I thanked them and shook their firm hands. You are too good for us to understand. Fly away free birds. And so it was they returned to the little TV box. I never saw them again they disappeared and I felt all was for naught But as I crawl into bed I once again see them floating over me-in my head. Its, ugh, never Ogre
