The Care and Feeding of Ideas
The Care and Feeding of Ideas Someone wrote them down. Words, on parchment, various kinds. Someone else... probably edited, and formatted, and thought through, and revised, and then it was all re-written. After consideration, adulation, spontaneous combustion of excitement, mixed with the revelry of plain crazy, forwarded to the publisher... for "Publishing!" That is not the end, only the beginning of the adventure. The journey from thought... to tangible texture. "Paper". A print is made, and then proofed, then "Poof!"... it is real... Sold on shelves somewhere for whatever, the market will bear. But that again is not the conclusion, as it is only the first of many hands... Read once, tossed or passed along. Traveled far by friends on trips, to close friends right next door. To schools, and libraries, to "Sharebraries" at every corner. Then again through the mixer at yard sales, thrift stores and last chance bus stops. To end up in an imaginary Castle. on an old metal table, barely still standing. At the edge of a study that looks out, onto every possibility, and smiles. A choice is made, the mender listens... Tape, and glue and ribbon. A new opportunity, for an old idea, to be considered... still valid.
