Trees
Trees Tallest of trees stand, sentinels, as if touching the sky Reaching out, each branch, every limb, oh so very high Species of every kind, vying for what nature will provide Sunlight, rain, seasons changing, renderings glorified Growing from a seedling, nature takes her time Some trees take an eternity to reach their prime Some grow so very quickly, but lifecycle so short Some fall prey to foul weather, roots cannot support Refuge to many creatures, many species of birds Giving shelter, a safe hiding place for many herds Cleaning the air we breathe, for the benefit of all Giving all she can, all of her life, till the day she falls Standing, gazing upward upon nature’s wondrous feat Growing ever so strong and tall, a lifetime to complete All of the branches, the leaves reach out, giving sanctuary Protection from the elements, shade, to us the beneficiary Standing tall within the forest, or singularly in a still field Deepest within solemn landscapes, where no man revealed Serene dance within the winds, as if touched by god’s hand These still giants stand forevermore, guardians of the land
