How Unfortunate
she stood elongated, straddling her memory like horseback- wanting and needing more time to reset her mind - back to reality she wonders if dusk will bring another ebon night, or if tomorrow doesn’t arrive, will one second contrive? what then shall she do without her forever... her muse once strong, now frail; she weeps in woe as her worries grow, head facing down- closes the door, walks down the hall...preparing to fall she walked intensely toward the foyer- saw walls covered with irrational decisions; worn wood floors saturated in mahogany stain- this house has seen much distress and pain, how unfortunate that one thousand rooms still remain she has a sempiternal longing for one answer to questions of time and space and life and death- takes one last breath (exhales high hopes) no time she could tell could give her tears, no time in hell could forgive all those years- simple sentiments hungered for, consideration craved; paved the grains sifted through glass too fast there is no way of knowing how long forever can sustain- how unfortunate that one thousand rooms still remain ______________________ 22 lines - I tried to keep it under 20, sorry!:) inspired by quotes: 1.) Louis Carrol - Alice, "How long is forever" Rabbit, "Sometimes just one second". 2.) The house with a thousand rooms Date - 2.2.20 The Meld of Muses Poetry Contest Craig Cornish
