Is Someone There
I am utterly forgettable. I leave nothing behind except dust. Ask them later they won't have anything to recollect. I am not enough to leave an imprint on anyone. I am barely a dent in the day. Before you close your eyes tonight these words will already be erased from your thoughts. Never has anyone looked back and smiled because they thought of me in their early years. That's because time has destroyed my place in it. Nobody will ever look forward and hope I'm part of the future because in those fleeting seconds I've already disappeared. I was created for no reason. I was born by mistake. I existed to fill empty space and I'll die alone. As you read this know there are many like me. Utterly forgettable. Many who are shadows in the midnight and vanish when you open your eyes. Maybe, just maybe one day I'll look at you and receive a welcoming smile before you pass me over to the person behind me. My mistake. I thought you remembered. It's easy. Utterly forgettable. Shauna Woodbury
