Far Away Close Up
Far Away Close Up Right beside me in the car, but not here at all. Are you with her? Who is she? Do I care? Should I, would it matter? No. I ride along in quiet. Thinking of nothing, but the desert... passing by, not for the first time, certainly not for the last. Dreams now gone, the way of all dust. Blown from the path, to be picked up by others, and then re-lived. Repeating the same disasters, the same arguments in unison, casting doubts on the very term... "ever after". Prince charming, the beast... more like the mouse, without a house. Humans lie. It is a talent that sets up apart, from the animals, that swing from trees. But not by much, as they also throw waste at each other, and touch at the wrong times. Like dung beetles, greedy to climb aboard. Soon, we will not have to speak again. We will both be free, to live lives apart. But she will find, you are not, a cherry tart, as first supposed.
