Ghost Writer
This is as close to death is I would care to come. I was visiting a friend in the graveyard under the noon day sun. The last time I’ve seen him alive he had bounced a few checks. Because he owed me some money I came to give him my opinion and pay my last respects. I know he’s somewhere laughing because he doesn’t have to make good on the check I was on my way out of the grave yard when I tripped on the root of an old oak tree. As I pick myself up I was praying please Lord. Tell me you don’t have a nice piece of real estate waiting for me. There was a large gray tombstone in the shade under the tree. Seeing that it was not meant for me, I went closer to see what I could see. And this is what I read. The fact that I have never been published, is a shame. For the world, and the universe will never know my name. As proof of my existence I’ll leave my pen behind. For the next inspired poet who will follow in our line. Please consider this epitaph as my final eulogy. As the words on this tombstone have been written painfully by me. Remember always Write what’s in your heart, and rewrite with your head. Describe, description And pay homage to the dead. Honor this resting place and all those who know it. For this plot is filled with the words of an unknown poet.
