That Blue Dress
That blue dress That keeps peeking at me From under the pile of clothes Amassed in my room Seems to giggle at the sight of me! Drenched in sweat, Breathless out of crying so much, My nose runny And my will, dead, I tell myself I must be looking Like a zombie, A foolish one on top of that Or maybe even A mad one! The circumstances have made it Such that this blue dress, Whenever I would wear it, Would bring a smile to my face, A smile which I would hide in the open But which would be expressed so loudly In my heart, That it would echo all over my ethos! But now that those same circumstances Have shaken me up By gripping me by the throat And by shouting at me Words of hate! Now, this blue dress will make me cry Even more whenever I would look at it And if I would dare to wear it Well, I would simply be going on my way As would be a corpse on its funeral, Empty, dull, why, dead even inside But trying my best to look Like the most beautiful, The most glorious one among the lot! This blue dress is linked to love And love is now equivalent to hatred At least not from my side But Now, the moon, Witness to my romance Seems to have turned its face Away, wanting not to look at me Flowers wilt and die as I approach them And the blue skies of summer days Groan and grumble at me! And meanwhile, this blue dress will go back In the wardrobe I wish I could hang myself in there too And wait Like it, For life to pass by To reach that lapse of time When, way too old, too wobbly, too weak, I shall not even be able to bother about That love, willed to me by fate But which was laden with hatred!
