Thanksgiving Celebration
Some claim Thanksgiving is unworthy of recognition and celebration. They feel ruthless white men invented it at the expense of those they exploited. These pundits take a narrow view of Thanksgiving this time of year, limited to America's history, as if it is all that matters-- as if nothing predates it. Theologians, however, agree with historians, when it comes to Thanksgiving, that has been celebrated for thousands of years. For instance, the Israelites of the Bible's Old Testament celebrated the "Feast of Weeks" seven weeks following the celebration of First Fruits. It was nothing short of Thanksgiving! The same as we celebrate today, as we feel the need to be thankful for the blessings of life and health. So, let's put aside hesitation and be thankful!
