Maya
Oh Maya, you are so cute and beautiful, Dancing like a damsel around me. I came here with a definite hope, Of winning you without a delay. Oh Maya, showing your softness and grace, You delude me and made me a slave. But whenever I woke from my dream, I fight feverishly for winning you. Oh Maya, you are so pure and adorable, As a golden vision for my eyes. I came here with a supreme will, Of winning you without a delay. Oh Maya, putting many obstacles around me, You bar me from any future progress. But whenever I woke from my sleep, I hurl myself striving to break through. Oh Maya, you are so nice and lovable, As goddess of pleasure for my senses. I came here to be your husband, To control you and command you. Oh Maya, like a moth flying against the flame, You drag me to pleasures of life. And I searched for happiness everywhere But standing here futile and vain. Oh Maya, now my time is gone forever, Without finding any space for my leg. The cause and effect is drawing their clutches, And here I die, crippled and cheated. Oh Maya, like the Christ I will resurrect, And come back here to continue the fight. And one day I will win your heart, And make you my wife for ever and ever. Comment : Actually it is not meant to be written as merely a love story.. This poem is based on Indian Philosophy. The union which is described is between 'Prakrithi' (The nature) and 'Purusha' (The Individual Soul). The individual soul manifested has an aim to conquer her-The Nature and his effort is continuing.. Won second place in STRAND SELECT 6 any form, any theme Poetry Contest sponsored by Brian Strand
