Once I Had a School Teacher
Once I had a school teacher Who wore a bun in the back, And took it upon herself, To teach the difference between Duty, Love and Lack. It seems that Duty stands stiff, Duty accomplishes things and is firm, Though I found Love standing sweet and softly, And serves freely and gives and sings and you it learns. Sometimes Duty must "accomplish," "get it done." Sometimes Love softly must choose to let go, But always Love salutes you, Though holding you tight in its heart as it goes. Love makes mistakes, always returning, Duty sometimes must go its way, Love holds its roses in its arms forever, Never out of its sunshine, always. I found Love complete, no compensation, no Lack, Though sometimes Love is so hard it may hurt, But in the end, Love is kind and forgiving. Where others think discipline and "just deserts." I choose graduation with Love.
