'twas the Night Before
'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE... 'Twas the night before Christmas All the kids were in bed I looked at 'her' face And liked the look that I read Just when things began to matter I heard the real ugly sound of a clatter I thought it was probably the kid next door And realized that 'she' had started to snore So I got out of bed and looked outside You'll never guess the scene that I spied It was Grandpa and Grandma in a hot embrace 'midst the trash from the can all over the place To me it was truly a sight to behold I guess they were thinking they wern't too old To frolic around like they were thirty Rolling on the ground and getting all dirty What had happened, was plain to see They were trying to bring in a Christmas tree They tripped on the trash can and both took a fall Had trouble getting back up, and that was all Unaware that I had a great view At what they had been attempting to do I quickly ducked back into the house Jumped back in bed as quiet as a mouse 'She' was still snoring and sleeping so well I hadn't the nerve to wake her and tell Of the sight I had seen out on the ground From two old folks just rollin' around Trying to bring in a huge Chrstmas tree For all the family to decorate and see I'll never forget it but I hope nevermore To see what I saw on the night 'twas before 22 November 2019
