The Calloway Mama
The Calloway’s mama was not unlike an octopus With tentacles in the PTA, the church, the A.A., She was involved in every aspect of whatever. Her friends kept her abreast of what her six children were about. When they were young, she knew before they arrived home About each of their infractions, and was plotting their guilt. Not unlike the mama’s of the other religious persuasions. She was the ultimate mama. The Calloway children could not keep secrets from her. Even as young adults, and even forty-year olds, They watched their peas and q’s, not wanting to disappoint. Mama Calloway was not unlike an octopus With interested, curious, loving tentacles everywhere Grabbing her children up and giving them a hug, kiss or swat Depending upon what they needed at that exact moment. Old Man Calloway was not nearly involved, thinking Children should be released at age eighteen. Silly man!
