The Chat
What a lovely chat we had The five of us together We talked about this and that Without mention of the weather There were Fay and Chris, Elaine and Harold And of course, there's me Fay and I were already friends We'd never met the other three What a lovely chat we had A charming reminisce Of days gone by, simpler times And old-fashioned things like this We talked about how life has changed From bygone days we'd known And the sometimes sad and happy experience Of living on our own We chatted about computers Optic fibres and the like Cars and trains and aeroplanes And remembered our first bike What a lovely chat we had Sitting in a ring We talked about new skill we'd found And that sort of thing We discussed technology And religion too When the time was running out We found we had similar points of view There will always be change Things don't ever stay the same Only God is constant And in his holy name That we find security In his loving care He was and is and will be Everlasting there What a lovely chat we had New friendships can be found By the oldest means of communication We have found a common ground
