Pretend Little Princess
Oh the elegance of diamonds Soft allure of indulged perfume A beautiful, ceaseless onslaught As it wafts clearly through the room I dance blissfully in ball gowns If only urban elastics Thin pink veil and silk ribbons Stepping light, I cast no shadows My divine ambergris and glass So I shine, like a newborn sun Alas my emeralds are not Though rich memories don’t tarnish Black vests complete, running compete Gloved hands open gold ornate doors Gentle lace traverses my gown Pearls dangle sweetly on my chest Nobly crowned, I incline to all Jealous lips kiss sapphire rings blest Cruel enemies and journey men I ride lively across all hearts When given, parents cried for joy As if I were a princess true Or a prince blessing a kingdom I will mean more than Big Ben does Sophisticated child of four Mother’s princess and her true love I still can’t dine with silver, yes But dream of crystal palaces
