Dragonfly
Dragonfly An odd thing in the sky An alien aircraft Four webbed wings and two enormous compound eyes An elongated twig of a frame A dragonfly Cold blooded Outdating the dinosaur and mankind A catcher of prey in midair Butterfly, moth , fly And its own kind A divine creation and design Withstanding the test of time Gathering by the water to replenish and to multiply Delicate wings trapped in sticky, syrupy glue from an opening of the bark of a ginkgo tree Rolling from the leaf to the ground Trapping anything around Crystalized and fossilized in time When they are caught on spiked and dewy droplet traps Such plants slowly consume its contents Their brief breaths taken Surrendered are their flightless wings Come autumn and wintry chills Their lives near its end With heavy frost , they collapse to the ground Food for the crowd Kiln fired ruby, turquoise and sapphire fairies lose their hue And dissolve into a clear, translucent doom On a sky blue day by the swamp one stood on my finger and stared into my eyes A series of pictures crossed my mind Awoken memories of pastimes Truths rekindled my light I smiled with gratitude My spirit revived and energized At once, joy filled my heart Marckincia Jean Narrative 10/27/19
