You Didn'T Sin
The word for 'sin' in Hebrew's 'chayt'* The dictionary says, but wait -- It really doesn't mean 'to sin' That meaning is a bit of spin.... 'Chayt' really means (to) miss the mark You take your best shot 'in the dark' Aim high, so if your aim's not true To miss the mark's still good for you So when your 'klop al-chayt' in Schule** Remember this uplifting rule If you feel sad Yom Kippur Day*** Your best God surely will repay ~ Iambic Tetrameter ~ ___________________________________ *'chayt' rhymes with 'wait' and is pronounced with the guttural 'ch,' not like the 'ch' in 'chair **'klop al-chayt' in Schule means to pound your chest/beat your breast in Synagogue (on Yom Kippur) ***Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is the Holiest Day of the Jewish Year. Jews fast for 25+ hours and are in synagogue most of the previous evening and that Day, praying for atonement and a merciful final judgment for the coming year, 5780.
