Marginalized
Yesterday, Yes. May, 1956, The liquid black gold formed the beginning of greatness In Oloibiri and later in the entire Niger Delta communities. Today, we are drinking from the rivers polluted by oil spillage, Many of us regret being a mortal in our ancestral homes, Because of your nurtured, fertilized, and perpetrated damages. You Kill, Sure. You oppress, But why? Forcefully you suppress, You pauperize, Openly. Yes. Undoubtedly you intimidate, You exploit and detain those the natural resources ought to benefit. The burning desire to inspire has quenched, The last flicker gone totally from your manifestos and budget, We asked for no favour but our rights, Our tortured souls longs for empowerment, Your promises put on the panoply of deception. Callous and conscienceless brute Where is your joy? How long shall our great souls be smitten and scourged? A thousand unutterable fears bore lasting holes in our thoughts. Your disdainful hands of administration affects even the fishes in the sea. Pathetic appearance of ephemeral fragility, Is the definition of your policies, An assurance of good-nature that abet hostility, Today, an inspired ray is in my eyes. You have failed woefully to build Niger Delta, Opobo Ancient kingdom has sparked up the brain that will do that in me, And in other vibrant and reasonable youths. Think, hope, and wait, you will see. Manumission is closer, Time is just a factor. *** *** *** **** *** *** *** Dedicated to the ruthless leaders of my motherland.
