The Seed - a Fiction Narrative Verse By James E Lee Sr a Alexander Chee Assignment
The Seed—a Fiction Narrative Verse by James E. Lee Sr a Alexander Chee ASSIGNMENT The situation is a fond memory; More precise a fallacy; I’m always… Wasn’t all that aware Nor, did I care Family members most Saw that I was an oddity Around the teen years Didn’t partake of alcohol, drugs nor marijuana I thought not myself handsome Wasn’t a athlete Wasn’t a super-nerd, but was nerdy Back when the biggest job going for the black-man was packing house, custodian, or construction Minimum wage was $1.65 an hour Gasoline only 25 cents a gallon A quiet voice Quiet touch A soft-quiet leader of such Collector of comics (only) Marvel™ Collector of records and albums (mainly) Motown™ Self-proclaim expert on both fronts Some out-of- town cousin as we were children stole some comics (got them back) All my female cousin looked to me for the music stats Didn’t have to be rich and if you were poor or middle income One could (at least I did) afford the purchasing of the entire Marvel comic runs back in the 1960’s and 70’s My father though it troubling But he thought now that I found out later in life, he was alright Because I wasn’t out there stealing and robbing All my allowance and most of my teen job monies went to Comics, Records Arts and crafts But in the day when comics were 12, 15, 25 cents And 45’s and LP’s were 99 cents and $1.99/$3.99 If collect-ability were a billion dollars then I guess I’m the richest man in Omaha If the knowledge I glean from all those comics stats were a Jeopardy championship game Then I’d be the son of Stan Lee (His real name was Stanley Lieber thought) Self-proclaim expert on both fronts Marvel Comics™ and Motown Records™ I think if I could live my life again, I’d do the same (all over) But if I’d were birth in this decade with the cost of things now… Maybe not??? OH!!!! YEAH I WOULD lol ;) For you see in creativity one needs to start with The Seed 9/3/19 Written words by James Edward Lee Sr. 2019© Written for Project North Omaha Writers Group (NOW) assignment Poetry: assignment The Seed:Alexander Chee
