My Wide Wide Window
My wide wide window, a source of joy Revealing trees in summer green dresses, Leaves fluttering like Degas dancers, And rippling heat waves rising from grassy ground. A dove dares to land on a hot metal feeder, And pecks his fill. No cinema, no photography, no painting so grand, Can offer such pleasure as a quiet time gaze Out such a sparkling morning wide window. And now it is twilight, and a glorious view Of golden stripes and purple hue, through Silhouetted foliage cooling to sleep, and No cinema, no photography, no painting so grand, Can offer such pleasure as a quiet time gaze Of such a twilight out my wide wide window. Then as I lie my bedtime head on pillows soft, Gazing through blinds at fingernail moon and winking stars, Lying, lingering, ready to sleep, and I know No cinema, no photography, no painting so grand, Can offer such pleasure as those sweet day’s gazes Out the wonders of my wide wide window. It may rain, it may snow, years may come, years may go, I’ll hold the memories of times spent gazing at nature’s art Out my wide wide window.
