The First Date
First Date You are taking my daughter, O-U-T! I want to scream at you. I want to take you and sit you… down on a bed of nails, or at least my couch, and give you… the third degree. There are other things, I would give you… but they are dangerous and have lasting effects. Yet, you will… tell me the truth! This is “Our” time together… You showed up late, that is not okay. Will you repeat the offense… tonight? You had best not…, be past the hour…! Have I told you that I am a baker? I like to cook, and everything can be burned… Did you know that? You should look it up. It is true. Her father is not here. That is okay. I can take up the slack. He is busy in another land, shooting bad guys and saving the world. It is important that everything go well here at home… You, understand? (the tone was rooted in truth) I sew. Did I tell you? I can make a bag, a very strong bag. A sack with a tie, that can not be undone. It will fit you. I am good with measurements. Are you nervous? You should not be. We can sit, and even pray if you like. That would be a good start. If you do not know the words, I have concerns, for your future. You need to go back to the beginning. That is…if you are ever going to leave here… alive…with my daughter. Here she is, (a hushed whisper) Now say nothing..., and smile. (poking the poor boy in the ribs) If she is not happy when she comes home, You will need to stay again with me… alone…awhile. Did I tell you I like to... (sharpening a long sword, with a small stone.)
